FAQ

Section A
General Terms about this web site

1) What is especially useful about this site?
On Target - The majority of used equipment listings on the Web are stored in our database. We save you the time it takes to use general Search Engines (Yahoo, Google, AltaVista, etc.) to find URLs of dealer sites and then browse all those sites. Since all the details are stored on our site, including contact information, you won't have to visit multiple sites to make an informed choice.
Up to date -- We visit most sites of our dealers EACH WORKING DAY. General Search engines update their indices at intervals of several months, so by using our search engine you get up to date information.

2) What is an RFQ?
RFQ - Request for Quote- is an automatic email you can send to us that you are interested in. RFQs contain your contact info and a short message including the advertising that you are interested in and any questions you may have.

3) How do I use Search on this site?
You may search for a specific model (preferably), a type of equipment such as PDAS/ Notebook/ LCD Monitor/ & DVD, etc.
To perform a successful search:
For best results search for a model (for example, do not search for Std-Success SP-SC-250W, search for SP-SC-250W).
Do not use * as first character of search term.
Search is not case sensitive, so ADAPTER = Adapter and adapter. For better results search for Adapter.
Search looks for ALL typed in words (logical AND).
Do not use conjunctions: AND, OR, NOT.
Check your spelling.

4) How do I browse this site?
Generally speaking this site consists of the Home (index) page, intermediate pages (with list of subcategories) and internal pages (with texts of listings).
It is possible to go from each Main category to its subcategories and from each subcategory to its listings by clicking the appropriate link. A subcategory internal page may have several sibling pages depending on the number of listings posted. Each sibling page has a page number and it is possible to go to any sibling page by clicking the page number you want.
Each internal page has a heading "Home: Main category: Subcategory". Selecting Main category in this heading brings you back to the Main category and list of subcategories. A menu bar appears at the top and bottom of each page of the site for quickly going to important pages.

5) How do I find more information about an item?
Click text of a listing.

6) How do I send an RFQ for an item?
Click text of a listing. On the next page you will be able to fill out the RFQ form under Product Catalog to send an email to us.
Save your contact information the first time you send a RFQ and it will be inserted automatically each time you send RFQ in the future.

  • 2) Can I use a switching power supply?
Yes, you can. However, beware of a few things:
    a) Locate the power supply outside of any enclosure used for your end product. Noise from the switching supply may interfere with it.
    b) Most switching supplies require all supplies have at least a 10% load on them before they operate. If you are under that, use a properly rated and sized power resistor to bleed of enough current to kick the switcher on.

    3) Why do dedicated power supplies make such a difference?
There are a number of reasons. Firstly Std-Success power supplies are of very high quality. Std-Success pioneered the use of well designed and highly specified power supplies in audio applications 26 years ago and are widely regarded as leaders in what has become well accepted as an important aspect in the design of electrical audio components. Specifically Std-Success power supplies provide an exceptionally low noise and accurately regulated supply which brings great benefits in such highly critical audio applications.
Also a power supply is a relatively noisy component in electrical terms and this noise can cause problems in an audio circuit - especially with the delicate low level signals found in preamplifiers. Hence placing the power supply in a separate box can also bring major benefits. This is also the reason why you should site power supplies and power amps (which also contain a power supply) as far away as practical from preamps, CD players and crossovers.
